The Fauna-thon Will Be Held May 22nd -- We Need Your Help!

by Group Staff 12. May 2010 06:24

Dear Friends,

With the welcome approach of Spring, Group for the East End has begun preparations for our Fifteenth Annual Fauna-thon. We cordially invite you to participate in this exciting event to raise money for children’s environmental education programs in eastern Long Island.

On Saturday, May 22nd, all interested wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to join me in a search for mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, and dragonflies throughout eastern Long Island. Our task is to count as many different species of wildlife (a.k.a. fauna) as we can find within 24 hours. The highest Fauna-thon total so far is 266 species, which we tallied in 2004. This year, we’re aiming to break the record -- 270 species is our goal.

NEWS: Fogerty Rocks Out for the East End Environment

by Group Staff 10. September 2009 08:04

We are so lucky to have the support of Marco and Katherine Birch, who hosted a concert event this Labor Day weekend featuring John Fogerty -- all in support of Group for the East End! The event was a rousing success, attracting at least 400 attendees and raising over $100,000 to support environmental protection on eastern Long island.

Guests were treated to a very energetic performance by Mr. Fogerty and his band, along with a bayou country barbeque to give us all energy for dancing.  Group staff were on hand to share touch tanks brimming with aquatic species from the Peconic Estuary, and guests were invited to watch our new video (Faith in a Seed) or take their chances winning a prize from the eco-raffle.
